offers clay classes for Adults. Classes are
scheduled for throwing on the wheel,
hand-building, decorative glazing, raku, and
special workshops. Classes take students
through the entire sequence of steps
required to go from wet clay to a glazed and
fired finished product. All classes are
taught by accomplished clay artists. Our
belief is that Art is an Artisan - if you
learn the fundamentals very well, you will
be able to make anything with practice.
Adult classes include 12 hrs of instruction
and 12 hrs of open studio time. A $20
materials fee includes 25 Lbs of clay and
3,000 cubic inches of firing for your class
projects. Classes are subject to a 6 student
minimum enrollment. Adult Classes will be
offered on a 4-class cycle throughout most
of the year. Kids and Teen classes are in
the planning stages, please call to be put
on the waiting list. Group Classes, Birthday
Parties, and Individual Classes are welcome

Alpha Fired Arts summer camp will introduce your child to the wonderful world of clay. Alpha’s talented art instructors will guide the children through a variety of hand building projects including slab, pinch, and coil techniques. Students over 10 years old will also enjoy an introduction to the potter’s wheel. Different themes and projects will be offered for each session. So attend more than one session for a great creative summer. Everyone will create an array of fun, fantastic art clay works. Class size is limited so sign up early!

Have you always wanted to try your hand at pottery? Wheel-thrown
pots are always in style and a pleasure to create. This introductory
class starts you off on the wheel with good habits and positive feedback
from your very first session. Techniques covered are wedging, centering,
pulling, trimming and use of all the various tools. Lots of demonstrations
provided to assist you and special attention for every person. A great
class for beginners or people with some previous experience.
Note: Class size limited to 12 and includes one make-up
classes on Saturday and free use of the studio during store hours.

like. There are no assignments, but Tony
will be there to help in any way he can.

About the instructor:
Tony Natsoulas has been a ceramic sculptor
for more than 25 years. He has studied with
world-renowned artists such as Robert
Arneson, Wayne Thiebaud, Manual Neri and,
Roy de Forest. Tony has exhibited in
galleries around the globe, in Russia,
Italy, France, Japan and all across the
United States. He has also exhibited in
numerous museums as well as in both group
and solo shows. In 2001, he held a
one-person exhibition at the Oakland Museum
of Art, and in 2002, he had a critically
acclaimed solo show at the Crocker Art
Museum. Spring 2006 he was invited to be a
visiting artist at the Shigaraki Ceramic
Cultural Park in Japan. Also, he has
successfully completed several large public
and private commissions in clay, fiberglass
and bronze that have been installed in
several California locations. For further

DETAILS:
- Start time is 11:00 AM
- Cost is $45 for 1 Cu. Ft. of kiln space.
- Bring up to 4 pieces.
- Additional space available at $20/Ft.
- Protective clothing required, long sleeve shirt, & no opened
toed shoes
- Registration & prepayment required, space is limited
to 6-8 Raku-ers.
- Price includes:
- Firing of up to 4 pieces.
- Instruction on kiln use and what to look for when firing.
- Use of safety gloves, tongs, tools & equipment.
- Glaze you ware with choice of 6 different Laguna Raku glazes.
Some Mayco raku glazes are available for purchase, as well
as other low-fire glazes you can try out.
- Use of brushes, sponges, reduction barrels, and materials.
Just bring your bisque! Classes start at 11:00 AM
on the dates above. If you have much detailed work to glaze, please
call to arrange to come early to start your glazing. To avoid problems
with cracking or poor results, do not use porcelain or grog less
clays. Do not bring heavy iron/red clays. Recommended clays are
Sculpture-Raku, Orion Stout, and Soldate-60.
