Firing Schedule
Alpha does electric oxidation firing using Skutt Kilns three or more days a week. Firings may depend upon the volume of pieces available for each firing.
We bisque fire to Cone 04, Low-fire glaze firing to Cone 05-06, and Mid-fire glaze firings to Cone 5-6 Stoneware. Firing times can take 7-14 days from drop off until ready for pick up.
Rush firing service may be available, call for details. Fired pieces must be picked up within 30 days.

Pricing
Pricing is based upon the volume, (length x width x height) of the piece. The average price for firing is approx. $.02 per cubic inch. The price can be up to $0.04 per cubic inch for oversized pieces.
The minimum charge is $5.00 per firing.
We offer bulk discounts for schools and single-full kiln load firings for larger items and bulk drop off, please call to discuss pricing.
Note: Larger pieces may be charged by the cubic volume they take up in the kiln.
Firing Policies
- •All pieces must be completely dry before dropping off.
- •No large SOLID pieces will be accepted.
- •No glaze on the bottom of any mid-fire pieces.
- •No glaze on the bottom of any tiles.
- •No glaze on the bottom of any large heavy piece.
- •If any of your pieces melt, drip glaze or otherwise damage kiln shelves you will be charged a minimum $5.00 per piece, more depending on the damage.
