Date & Time:
Saturday & Sunday, April 25th & 26th, 10a- 4p
Throughout an immersive 2 day workshop, Peter Pinnell, takes 10 intermediate/advanced potters into the practical and aesthetic possibilities of the teapot. This exclusive group will spend two days focusing on functionality and history of crafting parts for teapots on the wheel.
“Students will make tea and drink tea, pour from, consider the history of, think about, talk about, look at, and make parts for teapots! Think of this as a weekend to collect ideas and skills for later use.
The days will be episodic, with time alternating between lecture, demonstration, and work-time, in response to the ideas. The demonstrations will deal with ways to make bodies, spouts, lids and handles; some on the wheel and some handbuilt. Please bring a willingness to explore new ways of thinking and working.
Leave behind any desire to make a finished masterpiece. We want to spend this time in wide-ranging exploration, not in trying to make the one, perfect teapot; that can take place after you get home.”
Lunch and snacks provided, students may bring their own food and (non-alcoholic) drinks.
This class is for adults 18 & up. If you require special assistance, please sign up in person or over the phone to discuss arrangements with us.
